Baltcom Fiber doubles capacity of its submarine cable

Baltcom Fiber has increased the capacity of its submarine optical cable Ventspils-Gotland-Stockholm to 5 Gbps. Previously, the company delivered data transfer services at a speed reaching 2.5 Gbps.

To increase the speed of data transfer, Baltcom Fiber invested EUR 100, 000. The equipment provided by Transmode, a long-lasting partner of SIA Baltcom, has been used to upgrade the data network. The speed of data transfer has been increased on the basis of the existing DWDM system (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing System). Technological advantages of the system, the service provided by experienced professionals and the properly installed submarine cable ensures stable and high-quality service, providing basis for rapid development of Baltcom Fiber in recent years.

Baltcom Fiber decided to increase the speed of data transfer, considering the market analysis, which shows that demand for increasing the speed of international data transfer is growing by 80% to 100% annually. The development of multimedia use and broadband contents may push this demand even higher as internet service providers are feeling a growing interest for international data traffic.

Thereby Baltcom Fiber strengthen's its positions in the market by attracting new customers and other telecommunications operators that need international data transfer resources, including rented lines and global IP transit. At the same time remains the main focus on providing high-quality and stable service to current customers.
