Baltcom Fiber opens second point of presence in Riga - Perses street 2

Baltcom Fiber has established second point of presence (PoP) in Riga – Perses street 2 (Pērses iela 2) – that expands the opportunity of cooperation with several largest Latvian telecommunication companies and provide services in the centre of the city.

The building at Perses street 2 belongs to Latvian Investment and Development Agency. It is also the office of Latvian Commercial Register, and several telecommunication companies have located their data transmission equipment there. It provides an opportunity to link networks and develop different telecommunication services between them. Therefore this place has become an important colocation center of Riga, that attracts communication service providers and their clients.

Just like in TV tower (Zaķusalas krastmala 1), Baltcom Fiber also in Perses street 2 offers international leased lines and IP transit services, as well as in cooperation with Santa Monica Networks offers high capacity Latvian Internet exchange – connection to SMILE (Santa Monica Internet Local Exchange).

→ In March 2008 Baltcom Fiber invested 300kEUR in DWDM and core IP routing equipment as a major upgradeto 10G base. Total bandwidth of backbone network reaches 15Gbps.

Baltcom Fiber doubles capacity of its submarine cable

→ Baltcom Fiber has increased the capacity of its submarine optical cable Ventspils-Gotland-Stockholm to 5 Gbps. Previously, the company delivered data transfer services at a speed reaching 2.5 Gbps.

Baltcom Fiber has became a Full Member of International Cable Protection Committee

→ Baltcom Fiber has qualified for International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) membership as it is only company, which exclusively operates marine portion of the cable system Ventspils – Gothland. By co-operating with ICPC Baltcom Fiber will be able to ensure safe submarine cable utilization and make services more reliable.

Baltcom Fiber / Santa Monica Networks selects Lumentis for connectivity across the Baltic Sea

→ Baltcom Fiber selects Lumentis for a 2,5 Gigabit/s submarine link to support commercial Internet and voice traffic, and also to secure future expansion in the region. Baltcom Fiber invites System Integrator Santa Monica Networks to implement and support the whole submarine data transmission solutions.
