THE COMPANY

Baltcom Fiber is telecom carrier that provides wholesale data carrier services to telecommunications operators and other users demanding for high speed connectivity in Baltic States and Scandinavia.

Competitive advantage of our company is the ownership of the Ventspils – Stockholm submarine optical cable system built in Y2002 using latest Corning fiber technologies.

In Y2004 Baltcom Fiber started its operations by providing SDH international leased line connectivity between Latvia and Sweden. It was first alternative wholesale offer in the highly priced leased line market from Stockholm to Latvia and other Baltic States.

Present lit DWDM network capacity across the Baltic Sea reaches nearly 40Gbps and enables SDH and 10G Ethernet services for our capacity demanding customers.

Since March 2005 Baltcom Fiber is a member of International Cable Protection Committee to participate in global forum of sea cable protection expertise in both technical and legal areas.

In 2009 Baltcom Fiber joined German Internet Business Association www.eco.de It represents companies in the political process, encourages communication among market participants and supports the marketing of their products.

Dark fiber services to Ventspils University are provided from Ventspils to Stockholm as a part of corporate responsibility program of the Company thus supporting the education system in Latvia.

Company is a part of Baltkom group, where other subsidiaries already provide internet services, cable television and voice telephony.

Baltcom Fiber has entered into eco membership

→ Baltcom Fiber has entered into eco membership. eco – the German Internet Business Association represents and supports all enterprises that make commercial use of the Internet. It represents companies in the political process, encourages communication among market participants and supports the marketing of their products.

5. May 2008

Baltcom Fiber becomes a member of Latvian Association of Telecommunications

→ In May 2008 Baltcom Fiber became a member of Telecommunication Association of Latvia - allowing to take part in regulatory processes in Latvia and to be open for cooperation and investment opportunities coming to Latvia.

Baltcom Fiber network upgrade to 10G DWDM

→ In March 2008 Baltcom Fiber invested 300kEUR in DWDM and core IP routing equipment as a major upgradeto 10G base. Total bandwidth of backbone network reaches 15Gbps.

25. January 2007

Baltcom Fiber doubles capacity of its submarine cable

→ Baltcom Fiber has increased the capacity of its submarine optical cable Ventspils-Gotland-Stockholm to 5 Gbps. Previously, the company delivered data transfer services at a speed reaching 2.5 Gbps.

3. April 2006

Baltcom Fiber opens second point of presence in Riga - Perses street 2

→ Baltcom Fiber has established second point of presence (PoP) in Rīga – Perses street 2 that expands the opportunity of cooperation with several largest Latvian telecommunication companies and provide services in the centre of the city.

Baltcom Fiber has became a Full Member of International Cable Protection Committee

→ Baltcom Fiber has qualified for International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) membership as it is only company, which exclusively operates marine portion of the cable system Ventspils – Gothland. By co-operating with ICPC Baltcom Fiber will be able to ensure safe submarine cable utilization and make services more reliable.

Baltcom Fiber selects Stokab for connection with Stockholm region

→ Baltcom Fiber and Stokab have made a longterm agreement concerning fibre-optic connection between the Stockholm region in Sweden and the Baltic region.

15. February 2005

Baltcom Fiber / Santa Monica Networks selects Lumentis for connectivity across the Baltic Sea

→ Baltcom Fiber selects Lumentis for a 2,5 Gigabit/s submarine link to support commercial Internet and voice traffic, and also to secure future expansion in the region. Baltcom Fiber invites System Integrator Santa Monica Networks to implement and support the whole submarine data transmission solutions.
